Ask a new question. So like many others, I agreed to upgrade to Windows 10 free of charge because, why not. Obviously it's now been released, I had reserved a free copy a few days back. While the download process itself took a few hours, it came out well in the end. I even tried 'Stop download' to try the download again but the button just stays blank without any effect.
This screenshot should illustrate my issue. Why is this? I've been looking forward to upgrading but something always has to go wrong. For those curious, I'm running Windows 8. In that case I tried to re-download a few times and used up all my monthly data satellite Searching for a fix comes up with It stayed like that for nearly 24 hours so I shut it down, removed power and battery for a few minutes. When I reconnected and restarted it came up normal in 8. Since I need this laptop for school starting next week, I think Windows can keep 10 and I'll keep 8.

Don't try clean install. Just create installation media and upgrade the windows by clicking on. Please reply whether the problem solved or not.
